Chelsea star out to silence the boo boys.

Ashley ColeChelsea left back, Ashley Cole, has vowed to silence the England fans that have recently been booing him in every single game the national side play. His man of the match performance in the FA Cup final showed he is back from injury and is ready to silence the critics that believe he is only in the game for the wealth and fame.

Cole has attracted much of his criticism after he made the transfer switch from Arsenal to Chelsea, the reason he attracted so much hatred was because he turned down an Arsenal contract which was financially lucrative in order to join a new Chelsea side for nearly double the wages.

He was also a main figure in the Steve McLaren side that never performed on the international scene and having been kept out of Fabio Capello’s plans through injury, he is now back and fighting to prove everyone wrong.

He said today: “I just couldn’t do it. I played with it in the World Cup and I was poor, so I just wanted the injury finished and then I could get back to my best. This is the best I’ve felt. I just knew that when my ankle was better I would be able to run.”

“I will get on with it and, hopefully, I will change a few minds. I have been booed but everyone knows it wasn’t about football, so there is nothing I can do. I can just try to show people I can play as well as I can to change opinion.

“I feel like I am enjoying my football the most and if I play well then I will change peoples’ minds. I just want to win things, hopefully, with England. If I score the winning goal for England at the World Cup, then maybe they will like me again.”

A lot of people do quickly forget that for a long time Cole had been playing with a niggling injury as many professionals do in the modern game. The height of the abuse he received also comes at times when England do not play well as a team and suffer humiliating defeats. When he is bombing up and down the wing and making international players look like school boys then no one tends to complain.

Hopefully we will see more of this in matches to come. Cole is a human being and despite his recent trouble with the police and regardless of how he has played in the past it seems as though he is out with a point to prove. The FA Cup final offered up a glimse of how he used to play at Arsenal, it was majestic to watch just hoe Everton’s right side could not deal with him.

We hope he plays like this for England and if he comes up against one of the old enemies in the next World Cup then every single fan in pubs across the country will be cheering him on. However, he has a lot to prove between now and then, if he nails down a place in the Chelsea sidie next season and makes sure he is a first pick then he will set himself up for next summer perfectly.
